At Backyard Bible Club, we teach our kids that the Bible isn’t just a book of stories—it’s a living, active guide for everyday life. Recently, I experienced this truth firsthand when I faced a situation that tested my trust in God.
A company, supposedly serving Christian ministries, had been withdrawing money from my bank account inappropriately. Whether it was a mistake or something more intentional, it was wrong. I felt violated, deceived, and deeply angry. My first instinct was to fight and pursue legal action, but I decided to take a step back and seek God’s direction.
As I prayed, the Holy Spirit reminded me of Jesus’ words:
“If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other also. If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.” (Matthew 5:39–40)
In that moment, I realized that God was calling me to surrender the situation to Him—not to seek justice in my own way, but to trust that He would handle it.
I let it go.
I didn’t send the paperwork. I didn’t follow up. I didn’t demand reimbursement. I released it to God.
That’s when peace arrived, and the load of anger was lifted from me.
That peace wasn't just emotional relief—it was spiritual clarity. God reminded me that He sees everything, and He is the one who balances every scale. It wasn’t about winning or losing—it was about choosing peace and trust in His justice.
At Backyard Bible Club, we’re teaching kids the importance of trusting God in all situations—big and small. The lessons we learn from the Bible are not just for adults; they’re for all of us. This is one of the many ways we hope to guide the children we serve to grow in faith and wisdom.
Reflection Time
Have you ever been wronged and felt the urge to fight back? Maybe you're carrying the weight of a situation right now that feels unfair or unresolved. Before you take the next step, pause—and invite God into the decision.
What might He be asking you to surrender?
Let this story be a reminder that peace often follows obedience. Even when the outcome isn't what we expected, God's justice is perfect, and His peace surpasses understanding.
Take a moment to pray. Ask the Lord to show you where you can trust Him more—and then, take that step of faith.
